Skin Tags
Skin tags are small, soft growths that hang from the skin on a narrow stalk. They are extremely common and completely benign.
Symptoms
Small, painless, pedunculated growths on the neck, armpits, under breasts, and groin. May become irritated by clothing or jewelry.
Causes and risk
Friction in skin folds is the primary driver. Obesity, pregnancy, insulin resistance, and genetic predisposition increase risk.
How it is evaluated
Visual diagnosis. Atypical or darkened growths are evaluated more carefully to rule out other lesions.
Treatment
Removal via snip excision, cryotherapy, or electrodesiccation in our Chicago office. Quick and well-tolerated.
